MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Over the last few weeks we have doing lots of work related to Christmas in English. The most important one has been the Christmas Card Contest that the English Department launches every year. These year the cards have been amazing and of course the winners did the best job. Here you can have look at the prizes and all the rest of cards:

In addition, our language assistant George recorded this special Chrismtas video that you can't miss!! He did a great job and the outcome couldn't have been better. I especially like the end. It's real Christmas spirit!!

Also, our students from FPB did this beautiful Christmas tree and the Nativity Scene made with recyclable materials and natural elements. All this together with our Christmas tree with messages in English made our hallway really beautiful and Christmassy these days. And of course we can't forget our welcoming snowman

And of course we couldn't not mention the decoration that our students and teachers at the Specific Classroom put up on their wall and main door.

Finally, for our last school day we have organised a bilingual Christmas Party at the Library of our school. I'll tell you all about it as soon as I get the pictures:)

So far, so great. And I want to wish all of you a Merry Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year full of happiness, hope and peace.

I Am Thankful That It Is Almost Christmas Time!

Hello everyone

I am so grateful that our Thanksgiving event and decorations were a success. I had a great Friends-giving* in Lucena, and it was potluck* style so we had an abundance of food! It was great to be surrounded by friends as I did get bit a homesick. Thanksgiving is a special holiday for me, because it is when I spend quality time with my family or friends. However, I was able to reflect on how thankful I am to be at such a great school, have amazing teachers, many friends and the opportunity to live in an amazing country and city. Every day I am grateful to have made the choice to follow my passion to teach and explore the beautiful life and culture of Spain.

*Friends-giving: It is Thanksgiving, but you celebrate it with your friends instead of your family.
**Potluck: A communal gathering where guests bring a homemade dish of food to be shared

Christmas is around the corner...

I can't believe that it is almost Christmas time and that I have been in Spain for almost 3 months now. This past weekend I enjoyed my puente in Jerez de la Frontera. It really felt like Christmas as the lights were everywhere, zambombas, and people all around me.

Besides Thanksgiving, Christmas is the biggest holiday in America. Black Friday begins the season of crazy sales and people shopping everywhere for Christmas presents. Christmas in America is focused on presents, decorations, Santa Claus and family. Christmas is also a time to remember those families who cannot afford to get their children presents and appreciate all that we have (home, clothes, food, etc.). It is common for people to donate used or new toys, canned foods and clothing to families in need.

This year for Christmas, my family will actually be flying to Malaga from Florida, U.S.A. to spend the holidays with me in Andalucia! I am so excited to see my family and show them around the magical cities that surround Lucena. My family is very small, because all of my extended family is in Mexico. Although we usually have a very simple Christmas, we love to decorate and just enjoy the time we have together. Here are some pictures I found of Christmas when I was a child and a recent one with my family.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

THANKSGIVING 2019

Hi everyone!

Today I want to tell you about the activities we have been doing recently on occasion of Thanksgiving Day. Last Thursday 28th we had a especial activity at the Assembly Room in which our assistants prepared a presentation about this amazing American celebration. There were our assistants, Frida and George, together with the assistants from Araceli and Al-Yussana Primary Schools, who did a great job in explaining and telling us about everything related to this festivity. Students from 6th year primary school visited us and joined our students in 1st ESO to attend this especial presentation, which no doubt helped them improve their oral skills in English. We all had a great time and here you can see all the pictures!:)

Also, I wanted to show you the turkeys that our students from 1st ESO made in the days previous to the celebration: all of them cut out their hands and wrote a thanksgiving message: they were thankful for their family, for their life, for their friends, for their food, for their house, and even for their teachers!😍 Frida and George assembled everything together and give the turkeys the final touch to get this amazing board. Thanks very much!!!!
