MERRY CHRISTMAS

As every December in our Clara Campoamor School, the English Department celebrated the traditional Christmas Card Contest. This year our students participated very actively so that we, the teachers, received a lot of beautiful Christmas Cards for the Contest. Here you can have a look at the winners' cards as well as all of those who participated, including the finalists. CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!!:)

I also have to show you the decoration that our EBE students prepared for the entrance of their classroom combining natural and traditional elements (such as the sticks for the trunk of the Christmas tree) with more modern ones, such as the CDs. The result is very bright and original, don't you think so?

And finally you can't miss the window display that our FPB students created at the entrance of the school. They included messages in Spanish as well as in English (see at the top) No doubt they did a great handmade job!

And as a farewell, I don't want to leave without wishing all of you a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016.
See you next year;)

INTERNATIONAL LIBRARY DAY

Hi again! How are you? Last month we celebrated International Library Day at our school and our students wrote these messages to encourage reading. What would we do without reading? What would we do without libraries? Reading is flying. Reading is dreaming. Reading is living. Enjoy these inspiring and beautiful messages.

A Day in the Life of World Champion McKayla Maroney

Did you ever wonder what a day in the life of an elite gymnast was like? Every gym is completely different. Recently, reigning World Champion McKayla Maroney offered to share what her daily life is like training as an elite athlete.
7:00 AM - "An average day for me usually [starts with] waking up at 7:00am then going downstairs to get some breakfast. Right after that I have to get started on my school work because I am home schooled. I'm home schooled because I live almost two hours away from my gym, AOGC, and we couldn't find a school that would let me out early enough to actually be on time for gym.

7:10-11:20 AM - "[I do] my school work from around 7:10am to 11:20am. [Then] I stop and leave the stuff that i didn't finish for after gym. Then I quickly get ready for gym, and pack a snack for break. Usually a power bar, some fruit, and a water. "

11:20-12:50 PM - "Then we leave for the gym. My mom drives me to gym because my dad is at work and because I don't have my license yet".

1-5:30 PM - "At 1:00pm our group starts. We run for 10 minutes, then do the National team warm up, and National team conditioning, then start our events! Usually we do three events."

5:30-6 PM - "Then [we take a] break, eat our snack, and rest for half an hour."

6-8:25 PM - "Then [we] go warm up and start our last event. When we finish workout we stretch, then line up, and say thank you, and goodbye to our coaches. Then we grab our gym bag and leave."

9:40 PM - "[Then I] go inside, take a shower, eat some dinner, do my school work, go on my laptop, then go to bed as soon as possible."

Hello!

Hello!

My name is Caroline (or Caro for short) and I am the Auxiliar de Conversación in I.E.S. Clara Campoamor for this school year. I am very excited for this year and to get to know all of the students at school! Let me tell you a bit about myself!

I am from Darien, Connecticut, USA - a town of around 20,000 people about 80 km outside New York City.

I am 22 years old, and I have two younger sisters, Jenny (20 years old) and Eliza (16 years old).
Jenny, Eliza, and I

I have two Labradors, Oakley and Bailey.

I graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania with a degree in International Relations.

In my free time I like to listen to music, watch TV/movies, play and watch sports, and spend time with my friends and family. My favorite American football team is the New York Giants. I snowboard, and I also play lacrosse and field hockey. (fun fact: I used to work as a snowboard instructor!)

I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next few months! If you have any questions, or just want to say Hi, let me know!

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES

On 26th September the European Union celebrates the European Day of Languages for giving importance to linguistic and cultural diversity across Europe. In our Clara Campoamor School our students did these cute flags and projects to decorate our boards. Enjoy them as much as we did!
